Note | From Jonathan Sherman:
If I'm not missing anything, I think "Kiev" here refers to the Kiev Governorate, which encompasses Vasilkov County and the town of Belaya Tserkov.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiev_Governorate
A birth record from 1881 shows a certain "Liba" born to "Khaim Shimonov Markov" and "Slava daughter of Zindel" in Belaya Tserkov, which suggests that Chaim was already living in or near Belaya Tserkov in 1881. The list of Hebrews living in Suburbs of Belaya Tserkov has him living in the town's eastern suburb in 1888. It seems to me that Solomon "Zundil" was born in or near Belaya Tserkov. |
