MOTORIST WHO HIT POLICEMAN JAILED Given 60-Day Term And Fined On Three Charges Officer Schunick In Hospital Accused of running down a policeman on traffic duty last night, Charles Carr, colored, of Severna Park, was fined $3G.90 in Traffic Court today and sentenced to jail for sixty days. Carr was charged specifically with reckless driving, driving under the influence of liquor, and failing to stop after an accident. Patrolman David Schunick, the officer who was struck, is in the South Baltimore General Hospital with concussion of the brain. When the accident happened, he was directing traffic at Hanover and Ostend streets. Witnesses said he was flung into the air and alighted on the hood of Carr's machine, then rolled to the pavement. Carr, the witnesses said, went on, with several motorists in pursuit. At Randall street the pursuers forced Carr to a stop, it was testified, and he was arrested by Patrolman Eugene Sullivan. Although Patrolman Schunick was unable to attend Carr's hearing, officers said they had enough other witnesses to proceed without him.
