Retired businessman
Graveside services for David Petasky, a retired businessman, will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Hebrew Friendship Cemetery, 3600 East Baltimore street.
Mr. Petasky, who was 85, died early yesterday after a heart attack at his home in the 3200 block Smith avenue.
In 1966, he retired from a real estate business in which he rented rooms and apartments in several buildings.
Born in Baltimore, he sang at local theaters as a child and when he was about 12 years old won a talent contest that would have allowed him to go on a vaudeville tour with other young performers.
However, his parents disapproved, not only keeping him from the vaudeville tour but making him donate any money he received for his performances to charity.
His wife, the former Pearl Bender, died January 16.
He is survived by a son, Joel Petasky, of Pikesville; a brother, Samuel Petasky, of Pikesville; a sister, Ida Sugar, of Baltimore, and a granddaughter. |
