Harry Alterman of Brooklyn, father of Arthur Alterman, Past Exalted Ruler of Mount Vernon Lodge 842, B.P.O. Elks, died suddenly on Sunday.
Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Louis and Rachel Alterman. He was a retired teacher and had been a special investigator. A past master of John Hancocks Lodge 70, F. and A.M., he was also a life member of B.P.O. Elks and had been active in numerous philanthropic organizations. His wife, the former Eva Smith, predeceased him.
Surviving, in addtion to his son in Mount Vernon, is a daughter, Mrs. Abraham (Mildred) Feldman of Plainview, Long Island; three sisters, Mrs. Anne Kantor and Mrs. Sarah Stoner of the Bronx and Mrs. Etta Druxman of Queens; a brother, Herman Alterman of Miami, Fla., and six grandchildren. |
