Date of birth is uncertain. According to Barney (AS), Aaron was Harris' and Rebecca's second child, behind Louis. Louis was born in 1878, so Aaron would have been born later. However, Zella Silverman, wife of Edwin, Sol's son, read to me from a page of a book put out by the Jewish Historical Society, Second Street Synagogue, Baltimore, which gives Aaron's date of birth as c.1875. Apparently, Aaron does not appear in the 1880 or 1890 censuses for Baltimore. According to family tradition (AS), Aaron went away to school at Cornel University; perhaps he was there at the time of the 1900 census. He is listed in the 1905 Baltimore City Directory as a civil engineer living at 1419 McCulloh with his father and brothers "Lewis" and Moses. According to Barney, Aaron went to Cornell and became a civil engineer, and worked for the B&O Railroad until he got very sick from typhoid fever. When he recovered, Harris persuaded him to go into the clothing business with Harris, although Barney thought he would have been much happier as an engineer. On the other hand, there was much anti-semitism in engineering at the time. AS, 1979. According to another family member, Aaron worked for AT&T, and never entered "the business," that is, Harris' clothing business. MGR. Yet another grandchild, Ed Silverman, says that after Harris died, son Louis ran the company while Aaron ran the factory. Also, according to Ed, Aaron was the only child of Harris and Rebecca to get a college education. ES. Donald Little, a nephew, wrote 20 May 96: "George's father, my Uncle Aaron, was a fine decent gentleman." According to Aaron's son George Harris' second wife, Ruth, Aaron died quite young, of Leukemia, before their (George and Ruth) marriage in c1974, and was buried at United Hebrew Cemetery along with his wife and "his brother;" the cemetery is associated with Liberty Jewish Synagogue. Anna died about the time of Ruth's marriage in c1974. (RS). There is an SSDI entry that may match: Anna Silverman, b. November 19, 1890; registered in MD; d. October 1972; last resided in Baltimore
