Source | Family Tree - Will Ogburn for Silverman/Buckner Family Publication: Family Tree Dated February 2002 Text: In 1996, Donald Little, a widower, was living at 3253 Beneva Road, apt. 101, Sarasota, Florida. MGR.
In a letter dated 20 May 96, Donald writes: "After my mother died my brother Merrill went to work for Gloria's [Gloria Spiegler] mother [Taube Silverman Seigle, Donald's aunt] in Monongahela, PA and I was given a job with a cousin on the Little's side who ran a very very successful Shoe business. He died in 1948 and I stayed on and ran the business for his siblings which was the biggest mistake in my life".My wife Kathleen was from a small town in West Virginia and had 1 son by a previous marriage. He and I are very close - he lives in Salisbury, N. Carolina. He doesn't know a thing about the Silvermans except he knew Gloria and studied piano with her." "I lived in Pittsburgh all my life and had very little to do with my Baltimore relatives. Most of my visits to Baltimore were to funerals." "George's father my uncle Aaron was a fine decent gentleman. I may have met George once but don't remember."
On March 29, 1996, Donald wrote: "I vaguely remember Shirley [Shirleigh Silverman] from when I was a child. I am 78 and probably the last I saw him I may have been ten years old. I know he was a wonderful gentleman and a brilliant physicist. I was very close to Arnold. He lived at our house when he attended the University of Pittsburgh for a spell and that was in the early 1920s and Arnold and I were close until he passed away... My mother Celia ... died in 1932 when I was 16 and my only brother Merrill was 21 yrs old. This was in the midst of the depression and things were very tough. Our father died suddenly in 1919 " I was 21 months old and my brother Merrill was 7".I had no children " my wife died in 1977. "I lived in Pittsburgh until 1984 when I moved to Sarasota Fla..."
Cousin Ed Silverman says that Merrill and Donald were in the Navy in California during the War, and while there talked Gloria Seigle into coming out. ES.
Donald died in 1996. He left ten percent of his estate to his cousin Madeline Rubenstein and the rest to Gloria Speigler. MGR. August 7, 1996; b. August 7, 1917; last residence Sarasota, Florida. SSDI |
