1900 census. He is a Tailor living with his parents, born June 1880. His birth certificate (A-40112) says he was born a "White Jewish boy" on June 25, 1880, at 84 Harrison Street, the 8th child of Solomon and Esther Kornstein Buckner. Solomon is identified as a shoemaker, and both he and his wife were born in Russia Poland. The certificate carries the unusual notation that the "child is very healthy." Given the number of children born to Solomon and Esther who had already died, this notation may be especially noteworthy. An Israel Buckner is buried at Hebrew Friendship Cemetery, where the date of birth matches. I have assumed this is the same person. According to the gravestone and office records [Lot 164PH], Israel Buckner died February 1, 1947 at age 66, an age consistent with the birth certificate described above. Israel's wife, Jennie Buckner, also died February 1st, but in 1959, also at age 66. A neighboring lot at Hebrew Friendship Cemetery, Lot 162PH, Division 7, was owned by Jennie Buckner. Buried there are Sarah Weiman, Louis Weiman, Allen Bleisch, and Solomon Buckner, all according to office records [I did not check the grave site]. One grave in that lot was sold to Mrs. Elaine Bleich [different spelling in the office records]. Additional Note by Steve: Both the 1917-18 and 1942 draft registrations list date of birth as July 1, 1880.

1900 Census - Lived between 126-128 South High Street. Can't read number of house. Solomon name hard to read, says born Feb 1848 and 52, Esther born May 1849 and 51, Abraham, Israel, Issac and Theresa living there. Solomon shoemaker, Abraham bookkeeper, Israel tailor, Issac Salesman, Theresa at school. Says Esther was mother of 13 children, and 6 were living. Adding Rachel and Simon from the 1880 Census would give 6 children, meaning 7 are unaccounted for.
