1880 census. At the time he was in school. The 1900 census casts some doubt on the name of this child. Understandably, no child born in 1872 is included in the household of Harry's parents Hyman and Esther; such a boy might well be emancipated and living elsewhere. However, a Harry, born 1878 is in the household, and works as a Clothing clerk. This is not the only confusion about names; see brother Henry or Morris. An Israel and an Isaac Buckner appear in the 1890, 1891, and 1892 Baltimore City Directories, always as a clerk living at 250 Harrison Street. Israel is almost certainly Isaac, both one and the same. 250 Harrison is the address for Hyman Buckner. My guess, based on reading lots of City Directory entries, is that Israel/Isaac is Hyman's son. Given the confusion in the census, my hunch (and it is only a hunch) is that the Harry in the 1880 census is actually Israel/Isaac. An Israel Buckner is listed in the 1905 City Directory as working for M. Stein & Co., and residing at 34 Lloyd. This could be a son of Solomon Buckner as well. A Harry Buckner is listed as having a Saloon and living at 719 e Fayette.
