The funeral of Mrs. Isabella Buckner, wife of Louis Buckner, who died last Wednesday night of a complication of diseases, after an illness of three months, took place yesterday from her home, 1630 East Baltimore street. She was born in London, England, on October 29, 1858 and came to this country at the age of 4 years with her parents and settled in New Haven, Conn. There she married Mr. Louis Buckner, of Baltimore, August 18, 1878. Mrs. Buckner was very charitable. She was for years an active member of the Hebrew Friendly Inn and Aged Home and was chairman of the house up to the time of her death. She was also a member of the Hebrew Children Sheltering and Protective Association, Hebrew Free School, Ladies Benevolent Society and Sons of Benjamin. She is survived by her husband and seven children - Mrs. Minnie Hollander, Rose J. and Lydia Buckner and Dr. Harry E., Jacob, Alex and Julius Buckner; also two grandchildren. Her mother, Mrs. Leah Jacobs, of New Haven, Conn., and nine sisters and brothers also survive her. They are Mrs. D. F. Mann, Dr. Jonas Jacobs and Israel Jacobs, all of New York; Emmanuel Jacobs, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. Israel Jacobs, Miss Hulda Jacobs, Alexander Jacobs, Jacob Jacobs and Hon. Louis Jacobs, all of New Haven, Conn. Mrs Buckner was the oldest of 10 children. |
