Although his date of birth is given as May, 1872, his age is 21 and consistent with the 1880 census. He is then a 21 year old student.
Actually, his birth certificate gives his day of birth as "the 15 Mai" 1879, at 60 Harrison Street. The attendant was Mrs. Sauer. The form, which does not name the boy, says that this was the first child of "Iso Belle Jacoby" Buckner, born in "Enkland," and Louis Buckner, employed in "Besnes" and born in "Rusken."
Harry E. Buckner is listed in the Baltimore City Directory for 1905 as a dentist residing at 1630 e Balto, the address for his father Louis and sister Minnie, and earlier for his grandmother Sarah Buckner.
In a death notice of his father's death in January 1836, Dr. Harry E. Buckner is listed as a survivor. Jewish Times, January 31, 1936 (JHS).
SSDI records report a Harry Buckner, b. May 15, 1879; registered in Maryland; d. September 1997; last residence Venice, California. Harry E. Buckner is buried at Hebrew Friendship Cemetery in Baltimore (Lot 728PH). I did not visit the grave site but office records indicate he is buried with Rose Buckner and Ella Kaplan (perhaps these are his wife and daughter). The office notes mention several people, probably relatives, paying for upkeep or perpetual care: Mrs. Ida Kutcher; Mr. Joseph Oliner; Isabel Lewis of Marina Del Ray, California, also identified as Mrs. Mort Lewis, granddaughter of Ella Kaplan. [N.B. Harry's sister Lydia married a Mr. Oliner, perhaps Joseph.] |
