Last Will and Testament Of Abraham Jacobs
I, Abraham Jacobs of Baltimore City, in the State of Maryland being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and being aware of the certainty of death and of the uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous of setting my worldly affairs and therefore be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God Almighty to call me hence do therefore make publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following, to wit: -
First and principally. I commit my soul into the hands of the Almighty God and my body to the Earth to be decently buried in accordance with the rights of the Jewish Synagogue. Second. After all my debts and funeral expenses are paid, I give devise and bequeath all my property real personal and mixed in manner following to wit: -
A.The sum of Three Hundred Dollars to the Hebrew Friendly Isn and Aged Home and the sum of Two Hundred Dollars to the Hebrew Free Loan Association.
B. The sum of Five Hundred Dollars to my stepson Aaron Jacobs and the sum of Two Hundred Dollars to my friend Wolf Glasner.
C.The sum of Five Hundred Dollars to each of my grandchildren Silvan Silverman, Paul Silverman, Sadie Silverman, Morris Silverman and Louis Silverman, Jerome Ostrovsky, Julius Ostrovsky, Yetta Ostrovsky and Celia Ostrovsky.
All the rest and residue of my estate real personal and mixed I give devise and bequeath to my children Joseph Jacobs, Rose Kushnick Esther Silverman Leah Ostrovsky Rebecca Froman and my grandchildren Sadie Jacobs Celia Jacobs Jerome Jacobs and Florence Jacobs children of my deceased son Louis Jacobs in manner following to wit an equal share to each of my said children Joseph Jacobs Rosa Kushnick Esther Silverman Leah Ostrovsky and Rebecca Froman and one share to my said four grandchildren so that the said four grandchildren receive the share that their Father Louis Jacobs, would have received had he survived me.
I have made no provision in this Will for my beloved wife Mollie Jacobs because she has been provided for in our Anti Nuptial Agreement recorded among the Land Records of Baltimore City.
I thereby constitute and appoint my beloved son Joseph Jacobs and my beloved son-in-law Rober L. Kushnick to be my executors of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills and codicils heretofore made by me and I desire them to be excused from giving any bond for the faithful performance of their duties.
In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 20th day of February 1922.

Gromborov and Tillie Schreiber the two subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of Abraham Jacobs late of said city deceased and made oath in due form of law that they did see Testator sign and seal this Will that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of so doing he was to the best of their apprehension of sound and disposing mind memory undertstanding and that they subscribed their names as witnesses to this Will in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other.

Julius Strause, 59, of Aylesford Road died Sunday afternoon, June 28, 1964, in a local hospital. Born April 24, 1904 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Samuel and Leah Jacobs Strause. He was owner and operator of the Deb Shop and had lived in Charlotte since 1952. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Fort Mill, S.C., 32nd degree Scottish Rite Consistory and Oasis Temple of the Shrine. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Strause; two sons, Sam and Leonard Strause, both of Charlotte; brother, Jerome Strause of Tampa, Florida and sister, Mrs. Etta Goldenberg of Los Angeles, California. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Monday from Hovis Memorial Chapel, conducted by Rabbi Israel J. Gerber of Temple Beth-El and Hazzan Robert Shapiro of Temple Israel. Interment in the Hebrew Cemetery. Active pallbearers are S.S. Fligel, Larry Boxer, Albert Russo, Robert Kurtz, Ellis Levinson and Alvin Levine. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. David Citron, Louis Boxer, Sidney Cohen, Israel Gorelick, E.I. Sinkoe, Sam Galabow, Ellis Berlin, Dr Louis Levy, Morris Levinson, and Hirsch Cohen. The family will be at the home of son Sam Strause, 4740 Gaynor Road. In accordance with Jewish custom flowers are to be omitted; memorials may be sent to the North Carolina Jewish home for Aged at Winston-Salem. |
