H.N. Caplan, Raleigh Rabbi, Dies RALEIGH (AP) - Rabbi Harry N. Caplan of Raleigh's Temple Beth Or died Wednesday morning as the result of a heart attack suffered Tuesday night. The funeral will be at 3:30 pm today at Temple Beth Or with burial at 11 a.m. Friday in Richmond, Va. Survivors include his wife, the former Jean Backer of Richmond; two sons, Marc, a student at a Raleigh junior high school, and Neil, a student at Duke University; and three brothers, Morris of Philadelphia and Meyer and David of Baltimore. Rabbi Caplan was a native of Baltimore and a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and the Hebrew Union College of Cincinnati. He attended Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Rabbi Caplan, who had completed 10 years at Temple Beth Or during which the congregation doubled in size, was vice president of the North Carolina Association of Rabbis.
