Funeral Services Are Slated Sunday For Mrs. Nachamson Vice President Of United Dollar Store Succumbs In Durham Mrs. Jennie B. Nachamson, widow of Eli Nachamson and well known resident of 1019 Darian Avenue, succumbed at Watts Hospital Friday morning at 11:30 o'clock following a heart attack suffered last Monday, followed by another attack on Tuesday since which time her condition had been critical. She was born in Lithuania, the daughter of William I. and Rhina M. Clavan Bloom. Since early childhood she had made her home in America. In 1903 she married Eli Nachamson of Baltimore who died in 1933. Following several years in Baltimore they moved to Dover, and opened a business. Later they opened the Nachamson Dollar Store in Kinston and after a few years opened the United Dollar stores in this city. At the present time the cahin consists of stores in Kinston, Durham and Burlington, Suffolk and Martinsville, Va. Since coming to Durham Mrs. Nachamson had been an active member of the Beth-El Synagogue and the Hadassah, being past president of the Hadassah in Kinston and the local chapter. She also was an active member of the Order Eastern Star. She had been listed in American Women, the official "Who's Who Among the Women of the Nation," since 1935 in recognition of her achievements and interest in governmental, civic, educational and club affairs as one of America's outstanding women. At the time her death she was serving as president of the United Dollar Store of this city. Surviving are eight daughters, Miss Eve Nachamson, Mrs E.J. Evans, Mrs. I.H. Madalia and Mrs. Mary Wynn, all of Durham; Mrs. Naomi Schneider of Gastonia, Mrs. Grace Taylor of North Wilkerson, Mrs. Ethel Zeiger of Jackson, Mich., and Mrs. Doris Frankel of Huntington, W. Va.; one son, William Nachamson, a student at the University at North Carolina and one sister, Mrs. Freda Rosenthal of Philadelphia. Funeral services will be held from the home Sunday morning at 11 o'clock with Rabbi Gitin of Chapel Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Hebrew Cemetery. The body will remain at a local funeral home until Sunday morning at 10 o'clock when it will be removed.
