H.A. Burman Dies, Was Publisher Howard A. Burman, 53-year-old publisher of the Home News and at one time the youngest theatrical producer in New York, died of a heart attack early today at his home, 3510 Fairview avenue. Mr. Burman was a past president of the B'nai B'nth and Baltimore representative for Variety magazine. In 1921, he was a member of the original cast of "Blossom Time, the operetta which became one of the greatest moneymakers of the American stage. At the age of 25 after leaving Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, he coproduced "Behave Yourself Betty" with Adolphe Mayer, and later wrote "Happily Ever After" with Donald Kirkley. Mr. Burman was an active member of the Beth Tfiloh Synagogue. He is survived by his widow, the former Rene Schuman, two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Seligman and Mrs. Helen Sollins; a son, Borrah Z. Burman, all of Baltimore, and three brothers, Benedict S. Berman, 2d (who spells his name differently), Frederic T. Burman and Dr. Henry I. Burman, of Dayton, Ohio.

Name Burman, Howard A. Othernames Howard Alvyn Burman Born 1900 Notes HOWARD BURMAN: Mr. Burman was talented a writer and advertising man. He was editor of the Baltimore Home News, a popular weekly publication that was the first of its kind in that it was a non-subscription, free "throw away". This was the forerunner of many such as City News, Northwest Star, Owings Mills Times, etc. Mr. Burman was also a Baltimore theatre critic for "Variety", the national show paper. He was active in many civic and local causes, having been awarded a presentation from the National Conference of Christians and Jews and past president of the Menorah Lodge of B'nai Brith. He was a panelist on a weekly radio show fashioned after the then popular nationally broadcast entitled "Information Please", but on a local level. He wrote a play titled, "Happy Ever After" with Donald Kirkely, critic for the Sun about the Maryland quick Elkton marriages which had a brief Broadway run (text by Helen B. Sollins).
