Mr. Buddy W. Adler, 82, of Spring Lake Drive died Dec 1 1991 at Presbyterian Hospital. Memorial service is 3 p.m. Thursday at Greensboro Hebrew Cemetery. McEwen Funeral Home, Charlotte chapel is in charge. Mr. Adler owned and operated Elaine’s Underfashion shops in the old Charlottetowne Mall and in Winston-Salem. He was a Kinston native. Survivors are his wife Beatrice; son, Alan Adler of Topanga, Calif; daughter, Mrs. Elaine Cooper; sister, Mrs. Hilda Hochman of Florida; one grandson. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, N.C. 28204.

Beatrice ‘Brownie’ Peake Adler, 88 of Charlotte died Saturday November 4, 2000. Funeral services were held from the graveside-Monday, November 6, 2000 in the Hebrew Cemetery, Greensboro, NC. Born January 1, 1912 in Baltimore, MD, Mrs. Adler was a daughter of the late Benjamine Peake and Bessie Kandel Peake. She graduated from School 40 and from Eastern High School in Baltimore. While in Baltimore she was a singer and dancer in the Jewish Theatre. Mrs. Adler was a prominent NC businesswoman. She was the owner and operator of Elaine’s Underfashions Shops in Charlotte and Winston-Salem. Mrs. Adler was a life long artist, seamstress, story teller and local personality. Her husband Buddy W. Adler of Kinston and a daughter Elaine Adler Collier preceded her in death. A son Alan J. Adler of Topanga, CA and grandson, Mark Cooper of VA, survive Mrs. Adler. She is also survived by three sisters, Lillian Bridge of Charlotte, Adele Rubin of Annapolis, MD and Rose Rubin of Baltimore, MD and one brother Harry Peake of Greensboro and ten nieces and nephews.
