She helped her husband, the late Bernard Danzansky, and a dozen others, to found the home for the aged in 1914, when there was no institutional care in the District for elderly Jewish persons. She served as first president of its ladies' auxiliary. They started the philanthropic organization in an old house at 415 M st. n.w. In 1925 it was moved to its present quarters at 1125 Spring road N.W. Sons Run Funeral Home The funeral home, which they started in 1920, has since become the Bernard Danzansky & Sons Funeral Home. Two of their three sons, Sylvan and Sigmund run it; at third son, Joseph, is an attorney here. Mr. Danzansky, a philanthropist and for 14 years president of the Hebrew Academy, died in 1958. Born in Poland, Mrs. Danzansky came to Baltimore at the age of 5. She and her husband, an immigrant from Bessarabia, Russia, moved here in 1912. Over the years, Mrs. Danzansky served as president of the George Washington Lodge of B’rith Sholom; was an honorary member of the board of Adas Israel Congregation and of the board of the Hebrew Home for the Aged, and was a board member of Hadassah, the Hebrew Academy and City of Hope. She was an early member of the Community Chest, now United Givers Fund; the Jewish Consumptive Relief Society of Denver; the ladies’ auxiliary of B’nai B’rith, and Friendship Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star. Active Zionist One of the oldest members of Adas Israel Congregation, Mrs. Danzansky was an early and active Zionist worker. She also belonged to the Hebrew Sisters Aid Circle, District Hebrew Beneficial Association and Jewish Foundation for Retarded Children.
