The engagement of Miss Sandra Eileen Smuckler, daughter of Mrs. Roberta Tobias Smuckler, of Fairfield, Conn., and the late Mr. Bernard Smuckler, to Mr. Norman Steingard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Steingard, of Bridgeport, Conn., has been announced.
A graduate of Andrew Warde High School, Miss Smuckler is a senior at the University of Connecticut School of Physical Therapy.
Mr. Steingard is a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport and attends the University of Bridgeport.
The wedding will take place November 21. |

WOLPER Roberta Wolper, age 81, of Fairfield, died Monday, October 17, 2006 after a long illness at The Jewish Home for the Elderly. Mrs. Wolper was born in Baltimore, Md., a daughter of the late Bernard and Sarah (Jacobs) Tobias and was a former executive secretary for the Southern Connecticut Gas Co., Bodine Corporation and Perkin Elmer. Mrs. Wolper was an avid traveler and music lover and was a member of Congregation Shaare Torah and Congregation Agudas Achim. Mrs. Wolper was predeceased by her beloved husbands, Bernard Smuckler, Bernard Bauer, and Leo Wolper. She is survived by her devoted children, Sandra Steingard and her husband, Norm, of Bonita Springs, Fla., Arlene Domue and her husband, Danny, of York, Pa., Allen Smuckler and his wife, Jean, of Southbury; her adored grandchildren, Bryan Steingard and his wife, Joanne, Beth Murphy and her husband, Dave, Bonnie Domue Paul, Brett Domue, Michael Domue, Barbara Domue, Katie Smuckler, Emily Smuckler, Ben Smuckler; her cherished great-grandchildren, Caroline Steingard, Sam Steingard, Alexandra Murphy, Emma Murphy, Ilena Paul; and by many nieces, nephews and close friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. Services will take place on Wednesday (TODAY), October 18, 2006 at 12 p.m. DIRECTLY at Agudas Achim Cemetery on Reid Street in Fairfield. The Abraham L. Green & Son Funeral Home of Fairfield is in care of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders Association or to The Jewish Home for the Elderly of Fairfield County.
