NEWPORT NEWS Dr. - Monte L. Binder, 66, died Sunday in Riverside Hospital.
He was born in Richmond and had been a Peninsula resident for 38 years. He had practiced medicine on the Peninsula for 38 years.
He was a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he received his doctorate of medicine.
He was a member of Rodof Sholom Temple, where he formerly served as president. He was past president of the state and local Heart Association. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Virginia Heart Association and had served on the Executive Board of the Virginia Heart Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frances G. Binder; two daughters, Mrs. Jo Anne B. Rosenfeld of Dover, Del., and Dr. Debra B. Sternberg of Irvine, Calif.; Michael D. Binder of Charleston, S.C., and Steven Y. Binder of Newport News; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Rodof Sholom Temple by Rabbi Steven Lindemann.
Burial will follow in the Rosenbaum Memorial Park.
The family is at the residence.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity.
