Moss-Sarvas LONG BEACH - Mr. and Mrs. Henry S. Sarvas, 1034 Cartagena St., are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Janice, to Lt. Arnold T. Moss, son Mr. and Mrs. Phil Moss of Los Angeles. She was graduated from Poly High School and he is a graduate of Wilson High School.

ARNOLD MOSS (1936-2005) Arnold Toby Moss died of respiratory failure at 7am on March 15, 2005, at Desert Regional Hospital. Survived by Jan, his beloved wife of 45 years; son David (4); daughter-in-law Robin; grandson Tyler; daughter Cindy Rokicki (35); son-in-law Timothy; grandson Haarlem; sister Rhoda Morgan; and nieces Hillary and Tami. A Capitan in the Marine Corps, Arnold was a helicopter pilot who served in the Philippines and Japan. He earned a B.S. in Business and Accounting from Long Beach State University (1963), and DDS from Physicians & Surgeons (1967), practicing dentistry in Long Beach, Orange County and Palm Springs for 30 years. In addition to owning his own practice for many years, Arnold worked for the World Hockey Association in the mid-1970's, serving as team dentist for the then-Los Angeles Sharks, and as ship's dentist on the MS Switzerland, an international cruise ship. After retiring in 1997, Arnold began a new career as a real estate agent and appraiser. Arnold began the first Head Start dental program at the Long Beach Free Clinic, as well as the Straight Talk program in Cypress, a community-based help organization that is thriving today. He was also president of the Cypress School District School Board, of which he was a member of for nine years. Arnold was president of Peer Review for the Harbor Dental Society, and an active member of the Masonic Order and the Shriner's Society, for whom he was commander of the Air Patrol. An avid pilot, sailor and race car driver, Arnold also enjoyed working with the Palm Springs Rotary Club, of which he was president from 2001 to 2002. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 1:00pm at Palm Springs Mortuary, 69855 Ramon Rd., Cathedral City. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Palm Springs Rotary Club or The American Heart Association.
